Cepea, 06/11/2024 – Improved conditions in Brazilian coffee fields and the start of Vietnam's robusta harvest pressured prices for this variety in October, Cepea surveys show. The average CEPEA/ESALQ robusta type 6, screen 13-up index fell by R$ 80,73 per 60 kg bag (or 5,4%) versus September, dropping to R$ 1.416,72 per 60 kg bag in October – even so, this is the second-highest real monthly value in the historical series (deflated by the September/24 IGP-DI). The CEPEA/ESALQ arabica type 6, strictly soft to soft, delivered in the São Paulo capital, averaged R$ 1.490,14/bag, up R$ 17,4/bag or 1,1% from September. According to Cepea researchers, the arabica rally is linked to expectations of tight near-term supply of the variety, since, despite a good flowering in Brazil, the outlook for the next season remains negative given the weakened state of the coffee trees.
