Cepea, 27/08/2025 – With the harvest and ginning advancing in Brazil, cotton growers have been prioritizing shipments related to forward contracts, Cepea surveys show. According to the Center, most of these contracts were signed at prices more favorable than those currently practiced in the spot market. Some sellers are even making volumes available and showing more flexibility, but buyers are offering lower prices for new purchases, which pressures prices. In addition, Cepea sources say difficulty in approving lots is also limiting greater liquidity. On the demand side, researchers explain that industry players remain cautious about new purchases, given weaker sales; many companies have been relying on their own stocks and/or on contracts already signed.
