Cepea, 7/01/2025 – Cepea research shows that 2025 begins with lower wheat availability in the domestic market. In the second half of 2024, the decline in output was partially offset by growing imports. As a result, according to Cepea researchers, foreign purchases are expected to remain strong in the first half of 2025, with rising prices. In the field, higher cereal prices could lead Brazilian producers to maintain or even increase wheat area in the next season. It is necessary to consider, however, competition from other crops, including second-crop corn in several states, which is also more attractive, Cepea researchers also note.
